"I took a walk through this beautiful world; felt the cool rain on my shoulder… found something good in this beautiful world; I felt the rain getting colder…” I am so blessed and privileged to have the opportunity to visit so many incredible countries, and I always strive to travel like @AnthonyBourdain – getting to know local people, learning about local customs, and eating local foods. I have learned so much about the world by watching Parts Unknown on CNN, and in many ways, Bourdain truly was my travel idol. He knew how to travel and celebrate life better than anyone. Perhaps most importantly, he worked relentlessly to show us that everyone has the same dreams and goals in life, and that we should not to be afraid of strangers in our global community. I am absolutely devastated of the news about his passing this morning. For those that knew me since elementary school, I feel the same as I did when I found out that Cardinals Pitcher Daryl Kile passed away in 2002. I am so lucky that I had the chance to meet Bourdain at a book signing at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square in 2016. He was an incredible success story that overcame many personal issues, including a long bout with addiction, before becoming a celebrity chef and eventually a travel guru. This tragedy reminds all of us that even for someone that had most people’s “dream job,” depression runs deep. No matter how successful, wealthy or seemingly happy you are, we all have our own internal problems to work through. Suicide is becoming an increasingly major public health issue. Our CDC reports that suicide rates have risen in almost every state over the past 20 years, and half of states have seen rates go up by 30% or more. Please reach out to one another. Let’s destigmatize depression, addiction, and anxiety. After all, we are all in this together. #RIPAnthonyBourdain

Thank you #Malaysia for a quick stopover tour! Kuala Lumpur (literally meaning “where the two muddy rivers come together” in Malay - see the second picture) truly is a city of contrasts that genuinely celebrates the power of diversity! 🇲🇾

I had the opportunity to visit the Batu Caves today, a Hindu temple just outside of Kuala Lumpur that is carved into a mountain. The 272 steps to the top were well worth it!!

I had such an incredible week of learning in Singapore, the city of the future! In many ways, #Singapore truly is an #UrbanUtopia. 🇸🇬

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting several schools in #Singapore, and I am absolutely blown away by how transformational they are. The secondary school I went to yesterday was one of the most inspirational schools that I have ever visited in my entire life. Thank you @samuelsings so much for graciously taking the time out of your busy schedule to show me around and for teaching me about the Singaporean approach to education. Your school is so incredible, and we have so much to learn from you!!
